Borçelik was established in 1990 with 200 million $ investments and it is the first pivate steel producer and second big flat producer of Turkey. In 1994, it started the labours manufacturing the rolled sheet metal. Borusan and Arcelor Mittal implement together the company management.
We are keeping going of our productions in our association on 240.000 m2 area. We have 1,6 million ton production capacity. The 700.000 ton of 1,6 million is cold milled and the rest of 900.000 ton is composed hot dipping galvanized steel. We are manufacturing commercial, deep pull out, extra pulling, diphase, able to be hard in oven, rephosporise, HSLA ( low alloy, high strength) and in quality of building steel.
Our third cold rolling and third galvanizes line investments came into operation in October of 2006. It’s expenditure is 138 million usd. With our investments of labors with SIEMENS VAI our total cold rolling capacity rised from 1 million ton to 1,6 million ton and, our galvanize capacity reached 900.000 ton. Thus and so, Borçelik has modern and the highest production capacity of Turkey and become galvanized sheet iron manufacturer in Turkey in a short time. Borçelik is able to produce the amount of brass plating that thickness between 0,25 -2,00 mm and until 1530 mm width and 50-350 g/ m2 .
The new galvanize line, decouples the orders on the basis of customer segments and it supplies production planning covering type, amount, flat quality, and similar optimizations that is done more flexible and effective. And the feedback of these is accuracy and delivery to the customer in time.
Other Investments
In 2001 we started the of second phase investment that amount was 140 million $. We operationalized continuous hot dipping galvanize in 2003 and we get started the second reversible roll investment in 2004. With the license that we get from Arcelor Mittal, we use high value added Exragal Galvanize Technology for internal and external flat sheets. Borçelik provides in automotive sector industrial input equal the European Union standards, the external dependence could be decline.
In 2006, we modernized the second Galvanize Line and we passed the current technology. With this modernization, the surface of our products became better and we achieve the productions that have brass plating. In our second galvanize line we produce thick Galvanize sheets that some sectors need them especially structure, automotive and white appliances. Beside the cover surface quality and homogeneity, we achieve also covered surface adsorption quantity. Even the deep plastering works we provide covered surface adsorption and we perform the covered quantity controls.
We advanced our product range with the oven of hydrogen humid ( HICON//H2®). With this investment we modernized our production technology and also increase our production quantity.
In our facility the pure hydrogen that we produce from the gas, we use it in new generation ovens and we benefit from the high thermal conductibility of hydrogen.
Our Quality Concept
We obtained the certification of ISO 9001 Quality Management System in 1997, we obtained the certification of Environment Management System and also we obtained the certification of OSHAH 18001 occupational health and safety in 2000. In 2001, within the context of TUSİAD KalDer Large Scaled Foundations Category, we win EFQM Excellence Model International Quality Achievement. In 2003 we obtained the Certification of ISO TS 16949 Quality Management System. At the and of 2006, we worthied of Environment Encouragement Award from ISO.
Beside these, we became entitled to obtain the certification of ISO 10002 Customer Complaints Management System in June of 2007. And finally, at the end of 2007 we obtained the certification of ISO 27001:2005 Information Security Certification Inspections.
The other important point is, Borçelik use the methodology of 6 sigma since 2002. with this project, we consummate our business process and we work with the aim of zeroize the mistakes. At the result of this, we acquire capacity increase and customer satisfaction.
In 2004 we assimilated TPM and we aimed to reduce the missings of production, quality and inventory costs and we aimed that advance the capacity and the employee’s motivations. Borçelik gives importance to the environmental protection in all productions. We resume our investments that increase our competitive capacity and marked share.
